Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy or more commonly known as "PEMF Therapy", is an up-and-coming therapy modality used around the world to aid in the body's natural healing abilities- starting on a cellular level. In other words, PEMF is kind of like a "Cellular Massage". The pulse emitted by the machine works to increase natural energy in the cells while flushing out toxins. This helps optimize overall cell function necessary for optimal body function including but not limited to pain management, inflammation reduction, decreases lactic acid buildup correlating to post exercise soreness, aids in repairing soft tissue damage and bone remodeling for a speedy recovery, as well as increases oxygenation and circulation to better enhance any athlete's performance or overall wellness. What's even better is PEMF therapy is 100% non-invasive and pain free!
Even our horses get sore after strenuous exercise, playing in the paddock, or the daily activities necessary to get them to and from competitions such as trailering. The goal of Equine Massage is to melt away muscle tension, improve range of motion (ROM), and reduce the likelihood of torn or strained muscles during performance. Equine Massage is extremely therapeutic as it aids in flushing toxins from the body, increases blood oxygen levels, improves circulation, eases muscle spasms, boosts athletic performance and stamina, restores mobility to injured tissue, and improves flexibility in the body all while releasing dopamine (happy hormone) to give the ultimate relaxation & decrease stress. Who doesn't love a good massage?! Pre & Post event massages are great for any level of equine athlete, whether its Olympic hunter jumpers, or trail riding, the horses' muscles still all work the same. Whatever your discipline, equine massage can help keep your equine partner happy and performing at their best.
Kinesiology taping is fairly new in the sense it is not commonly seen in every equine practitioner "toolbox" but has been in the human health industry for years. I'm sure you've seen professional athletes with this colorful tape all over them, but what does it actually do? Kinesiology taping applications are great for increasing body awareness, addressing weakness, immediate pain reduction, inflammation reduction through improved fluid dynamics, and improving movement pattern dysfunction just to name a few. How does it work? The kinesiology tape adhesive lifts the hair follicles which directly communicate to the receptors in the fascia (the connective tissue under the skin). Some might ask "why this is important?". Well, the mechanoreceptors are essentially the streetlights signaling directly to the brain. The benefit of direct and immediate contact with the brain and instant pain relief is the ability to overcome compensatory movement patterns created by pain and without correction can cause a chain reaction of restricted fascia and improper movement inhibiting performance and overall health.
Oh, Fascia. The connective tissue that deserves all of the credit for how fluid and effortless our body's move. This connective tissue is FULL of nerve endings communicating with the brain and when we have tension, injuries, or even our normal everyday activities our fascia can hold onto those "scars", literally and metaphorically, restricting fascial glide. Fascia that has no glide can reduce range of motion, cause pain and increased sensitivity, and there for causing a chain reaction that inhibits regular movements, not to mention performance. Fascia work or commonly known as "Bodywork" helps restore fascial glide, reduce pain, and improves overall body movement as all fascia is connected in one way or another. You know that pulled hamstring your horse had 3 years ago on the left side? That pulled hamstring is encased in fascia that communicated with the entire body and if the glide is not restored it has to have some "give" somewhere down the line, and now you're noticing your horse has restriction in the right shoulder. It is all connected through fascia.
Red light therapy has been seen to aid in numerous health and wellness regimens. Red light therapy devices emit low levels of infrared light diodes (LED) to help with: Weight loss
